1. How many semesters in a year?
Starting January 2025, UTP has been implemented three semesters in a year: January, May and September. Students are required to register for every semester.

2. I am a new intake student. What course I should register?
Research Methodology & RPD are the compulsory course to be registered in the first semester. If the students fail to complete RPD in their first semester, they must re-register RPD ONLY in the second semester.

3. I haven’t completed my RPD in my first semester, what courses do I need to register for my second semester?
You need to register for RPD only. After passing RPD in the second semester, you are required register for Research Progress in the third semester onwards (starting from Research Progress 1 and continues).

4. Can I postpone my Research Methodology module?
Research Methodology needs to be taken in the first semester. Research Methodology is a pre-requisite for RPD & Research Progress.

5. I just completed Viva, is there any courses to be registered for the following semester? Currently working on thesis correction.
Thesis Research Correction (TRC) course has been abolished. Please register for Active Enrolment Status (AES) course.

6. I just finished my enrolment and registered for Research Progress but already have the date Viva. Should I register for Viva Voce this semester?
Within add/drop period: Please update your course registration to Active Enrolment Status (AES) and drop the Research Progress course accordingly.
Add/drop period ended: Kindly reach out to REX for further assistance.

Please take note that Viva Voce will only be registered by REX upon receiving official confirmation from your respective department.

7. I have already submitted my softbound thesis and received approval from CGS. My Viva Voce is likely to be in in first or second month of the semester. However, during the registration, I can't find any Viva Voce option. Should I proceed with Research Progress?
Please register for the Active Enrolment Status (AES) course ONLY. Please take note that Viva Voce will only be registered by REX upon receiving official confirmation from your respective department.

8. If I plan to go for Viva Voce in this semester, should I register?
Yes, you must register for Active Enrolment Status (AES) course. As for Viva Voce, registration will be done by Registration and Examination Department (REX) upon confirmation on the Viva date by respective academic department.

9. I have passed the Viva Voce course and currently in the process of completing the corrections for the thesis submission. Hence, may I know which course I need to register to complete the enrolment process?
Please proceed to enrol Active Enrolment Status (AES) course ONLY.

10. I can’t find Active Enrolment Status (AES) course in UCampus. What should I do?
You are advised to thoroughly search for the course code/title from all the available dropdowns. Do ensure that you have identified and selected the appropriate course before proceeding.

11. What is late registration appeal?
Late registration appeal is an appeal for those who missed add/drop period and would like to register in that particular semester. Late registration appeal is subject to approval from the Registrar, no outstanding dues and RM 100 late registration penalty.

12. How to appeal for late registration?
Please submit all necessary documents to the MS forms platform upon receiving REX notification through email.

13. What if I failed to register in that particular semester?
Students who fail to register by Week 5 of the semester without providing prior notice and valid justification will be subject to immediate dismissal status.

14. After being dismissed due to failed to register, can I appeal for reinstatement of study?
Yes, students must write an appeal letter addressing to Registrar and submit the appeal letter to the MS Forms platforms upon receiving REX notification through email.

15. Am I allowed to register if I have outstanding dues?
No. All students must have zero outstanding in order to register in every semester. Further details on the outstanding dues kindly log a report in UCS portal under subject Finance.

16. I have financial constraint and want to delay my semester registration. Am I allow to do that?
No. Students are not allowed to delay their semester registration. All students are given 4 weeks to register and additional 2 weeks for late registration appeal. Students must register within this timeline. Fail to do so may lead to academic dismissal status.

17. I want to know more on Research Methodology class schedule and assessment, who should I contact?
